McCalmont-Woods is an independent real estate agency founded by Nick McCalmont-Woods in early 2008 in response to client requests for a trusted advisor focussed exclusively on providing transactional and professional services to corporate office occupiers. The company offers a unique combination of in-depth market knowledge and outstanding personal service to a select portfolio of blue-chip clients in London's prime office real estate districts.
“Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of the creative effort. ”
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Nick is well established in the London market and has more than two decades of experience in acquiring and disposing of office premises in The City, Holborn and London Docklands for a wide range of clients from small start up organisations to major players in the global financial arena.
Nick's long career in London offices began in 1984, when he joined international real estate consultants Jones Lang Wootton, specialising initially in Landlord & Tenant and taxation. He was made an Associate in 1993 and a Partner in 1995, having joined JLWs City Offices Agency team in 1987. After 16 years at JLW/Jones Lang LaSalle, Nick joined GVA Grimley as a Partner in 2000, to help develop and grow the London City office, and was made Equity Partner in 2001. The £40m investment made by Lloyds TSB Development Capital in the firm in November 2007 enabled Nick to establish his own niche business.
Nick was elected a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1985, having graduated with a BSc in Estate Management from Liverpool Polytechnic in 1983. He is married to Kate and has a daughter, Isabella. He has lived in West London for more than 20 years and spends much of his spare time in Dorset, where he recently renovated a Grade II listed cottage dating from c.1750.
